i made another hooded towel and added dora fabric to one side. you'll see the whole package deal later this week once i get it all together.
and here's a portion of one wall in nathans room. we're going a little car crazy! the banner (really called a bunting) around the room is made from checker fabric and bias tape. it's coming together quite nicely. now if i can just get him to sleep in his room, life would be great :)

thank you blue cricket design (who also happens to be an old neighbor from huntington beach i randomly came across while checking out craft blogs, small world right) for this great idea! take a red taper candle, spray paint it black. when it burns and the wax drips, it's red and looks like it's bleeding. this will be perfect decor for my upcoming halloween party nathans having with his cousins!

i made nathan some hooded towels out of a bath towel (the body) and a hand towel (the hood). super fast and easy! now that's a project i like! if interested in how i did this, just let me know :)

this weekend we went grocery shopping. the store we go to is the type where you have to bag your own groceries. each checkout stand has 2 belts to send the groceries down for the current and previous customers to bag their groceries. the elderly lady in front of us was in the stores automatic wheelchair. she couldn't get to her side of the belt to bag her groceries since the customers before her were in the way, and the checker didn't know which belt to start sending our groceries down. i told her she could start sending my groceries down the belt where the elderly lady had a few of her groceries because my husband would help her bag them. jaren had been down there waiting for our groceries, but couldn't get to ours, due to the elderly lady and her wheelchair. and sure enough, jaren squeezed his way through and started bagging her groceries for her, placed them in her wheelchair and wished her a good day. the checker looked at me and said, "how did you know your husband would do that?" to which i replied, "i just know my husband." and that's exactly it!!! my husband is the most compassionate man i know! he ALWAYS puts other people ahead of himself and goes above and beyond in all he does. and i'm so thankful to have married such a sweet, kind, generous man!

i hosted a craft day last week with 2 of my friends. we were making fall wreaths using all supplies from the dollar tree.

i made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies as thank you's to them for coming. they were SO GOOD!

here is one of my friends final wreath! it turned out beautiful!! i have yet to finish making my wreath. the 2 boys are keeping me very busy this week! here's a fun, easy and cheap craft tutorial! i call it witchs broom treat bag. i saw it on martha stewart.com. but she didn't have great instructions. so i thought i'd show how i made mine.

first are the supplies...

to make one you'll need:

1 twig

2 brown paper lunch bags

scissors

twine

take bag 1, and cut strips down to the base of the bag.

take bag 2, and cut stripes just on the top.

place bag 2 on bag 1. fill your bag with whatever goodies you want. gather the strips of bag 1, over bag 2, stick twig in the center, wrap and tie with twine.

and there ya have it!

soccer season is here. my nephew is playing. my sister is the team mom. jarens company sponsored the team. so i thought i'd chip in somehow also. so i made water bottle slings in their team colors and ironed on their soccer numbers to the side.
and look what my wonderful, thoughtful, caring, loving, generous, kind, amazing, hardworking, cutie-patootie husband got me for my birthday!
i've been dying for a cricut for a few years and i'm VERY EXCITED i have one now! check out all it can do....


i probably won't be posting the projects i make since i have many christmas gifts in mind ;)

our front bathroom has a dr. seuss theme. my sister ordered the one fish two fish shower curtain from pottery barn kids for me and it's ADORABLE! so i've been slowly putting the whole bathroom together and will show a picture later when it's all completed.
but what i have managed to do so far is make towel hooks. i picked up these unfinished wooden stars at walmart, paint them red, and decopauged the pictures onto them.

the pictures i got from a dr. seuss calendar i found at walgreens. so i cut out a few of them and stuck them in a frame.

in other news... nathan has his 2 bottom teeth :) you can kinda sorta see them here...

and lately, this has been the only way i can sew. when one is napping and tying up the other one with food while he watches me. lol.
this past friday night jaren and i went out for dinner. we decided to order nathan something off the kids menu. HE LOVED IT!!! not much food fell out of his mouth, LOL.

and recently we've learned that this kid will sleep ANYWHERE!

and speaking of nathan, he had a drs checkup yesterday. at 7 1/2 months, he now weighs 22 lbs and is 29 inches long. he's a great crawler, has his 2 bottom teeth, pulls himself up onto things, can walk around if he's hanging on to something and gets into EVERYTHING! he's just such a joy to have in our family :)

too busy to craft :(

we found out a few weeks ago that our apartment complex is being foreclosed on! so we've been searching for a new place to live. thankfully, my aunt and uncle had their rental house become vacant. so yay, we have a place to live now!! we're currently in the process of fixing it up some. painting, new carpet, small repairs etc. so that has been taking up our life this past week. plus i recently started watching a 14 month old boy. at first it was temporary until she found a daycare she liked. but then it started becoming nice for nathan to have a play buddy around everyday! of course we have our meltdown moments, but all in all, it's working. i'm working on getting them on the same naptime schedule. as i type, they're both asleep :) so i told her i'd like to just keep watching him. which eases the stresses of finding a daycare! and when we do finally move everything into the new house (2 more weeks i hope), we'll have much more play space, a backyard (YAY!), nearby park/pool/tennis courts, oh and of course, a sewing room ;)

i walked into the bathroom last night and found this note waiting for me on the bathtub. apparently this is what jaren does while he's in there, LOL.

yep! it didn't take long for him to pull the rack down onto his head! he's fine. it just startled him.

nathan loves being in his little swimming pool. all goes well until the sprinklers come on! oopsie!
